Things to do in North Devon

The beauty of family holidays in North Devon is the mind-boggling array of things to do. For all ages and interests there is something they will love. Just a flip and a flop from your family holiday apartment is Woolacombe Beach. Home to three miles of sandy goodness, it has surf-perfect waves, cute beach huts and lifeguards from mid-June to the end of November. You can leave your car at your apartment, so there's no need to worry about parking or sandy car syndrome!

Spend days enjoying sandy scavenger hunts, foraging for shells and hunting for rockpool treasures. On rainy days, hit the waves - you're going to get wet anyway, so why not? Woolacombe has a thriving surf community so it's not unusual to follow a pod of surfers as they plod barefoot back from the beach, boards tucked under their arms, reminiscing about the ones that got away! North Devon, and particularly Woolacombe, has some of the finest surfing in the UK. Strong westerly swells from the Atlantic Ocean roll in to our long, gently shelving sandy beaches. Lessons and board hire are available.

Lundy Island lies 15 miles off the coast. Leaving by boat, this is a full family day  out. The best months to spot puffins are April – July.  Definitely one for the bucketlist!

“As we are a large family with grandchildren, we opted for Self Catering. The apartments were airy, well stocked and had stunning views of both our own lido, the Devon hills and the beautiful beach. Our group’s ages were from 2 years to 78 years - and there was something for everyone.”
